WHY IS EAST POINT CHURCH OF CHRIST
ORGANIZING AN ORPHAN SUPPORT
PROGRAM IN ZIMBABWE?
  • Zimbabwe suffers from political, economic, and medical disaster at the
    present time.
  • The AIDS crisis has left approximately 1.2 to 1.3 million children as
    orphans.
  • As of January 2007, the inflation rate was approximately 1,600% with
80%  unemployment rate and approximately 90% poverty rate.
  • The government does not offer care for the orphans.
  • Many orphans end up on the street, doing whatever it takes to survive.
SUPPORT MEANS HOPE!
Providing support to these children means that they
receive:
  •    Spiritual teaching
  •    Clothes to wear
  •    Food to eat
  •    Standard education
GOD IS WORKING IN ZIMBABWE!
  • Schools that the government has been running are being turned back over
religious  organizations. The Church of Christ has been granted three
    schools.
  • New churches are starting and continue to grow.
  • The children are receiving biblical studies along with their standard
    education.
  • Several families have stepped forward in faith to care for orphaned children
even though they have very little themselves.  Support is being provided
    to them as well.
East Point Church of Christ
  • The Nhowe Mission is responsible for
    overseeing the orphan program.
  • Each sponsored school has a minister to oversee
the orphans.  This minister is responsible for
ensuring that the children receive food, clothing,
and spiritual support.  They also ensure that the
    children are attending classes.
