ZIMBABWE SCHOOLS PICTURES TAKEN IN JULY 2007

Basically, all students at the schools walk,
some of them for more than four hours per day.
Broken or missing windows are common.
Library shelves are often bare and some of
the books that are available are irrelevant
Textbooks are few. Many classes have only
one per room.
There is little light in the classrooms other
than that coming from the sun.
This classroom lost its roof to wind two
years ago. There is no money for repairs.
Electricity is sparse, as blackouts occur very
often. This affects computer studies, as well
as other classroom activities.
Teachers are paid approximately $5 USD
per month, which brings low morale and has
prompted strikes in some cities.
